Academic Paper Title & Ideas

I have been spending the last few weeks trying to find a good subject within engineering in which I could create a debate around. I found it fairly difficult to find contentious ideas within engineering which would prove easy to gain information about as well as interest me. The following are a few of my ideas:

• CAD, Has it Really Helped the Engineer? With this title I would look into seeing if the introduction of Computer Aided Design (CAD) has lessened the skill required for the modern day design engineer, and look at the advantages and disadvantages of the system.
• The Future of the Eco-friendly Car: With this question I would research to find out if any of the current challengers to petrol & diesel cars are really in a position to make a big impact on the car industry and environment, or if more development is needed before one type can challenge?
• The Future of Renewable Energy: With this report I would look into what the most popular forms of renewable energy are and what one will most likely be the type to replace older fossil fuel methods.

I have currently not made a final decision as I am looking to do further initial research to see which one would be able to give me more information. I am currently leaning towards the first idea, as this is more closely linked with my job in the design office.
